Tessie Buena has been a member of the St. Josephine Bakhita Circle #1430 of the Daughters of Isabella since its inception on 12th July 2009.  Right from the start, she has always been a very enthusiastic, energetic and a dedicated member. She is one of the most successful fundraising member’s of the DOI, who sells the most amounts of tickets for our events.  She organizes the bus trips to Fallsview every year for the Daughters and their friends.

Tessie is very generous at heart and instrumental in providing Bread free of charge to the Parish Community.  During our Pauper’s Meal (Lenten Parish Event), she provides us with the bread and pastries for the entire event. She is hardworking and always eager to help old and new Daughters in various events.  We are proud to have her in our group and it is no surprise that she has been nominated for the “Daughter of the Year” award.  She has held office as an Auditor in our Circle since 2016.

“Give your hands to SERVE and your hearts to LOVE”.  These words of Mother Teresa are exemplified in our St. Josephine Bakhita Circle.  We were fortunate to welcome to our Circle, Charlotte Pereira (March 2018) and Amanda Merandez (November 2018).

At the end of 2018, our Circle decided to have an event to recruit new members in 2019.  With enthusiasm we planned for a Ladies Night, which we were proud to host on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm for all the ladies of St. Josephine Bakhita Parish and the neighbouring parishes.  Approximately 60 women attended and joined in the festivities.

Following our Recruitment drive, we were happy to welcome 7 new members in February 2019.   Chandelyn (Chandy) Arceo, Joy Ekwommadu, Camia Fausto, Pallavi Kumbam,  Marianne Marques, Ximena Mercado, and Judy Pereira.

In March, 2019 we welcomed Jessy Pereira to our Circle.

We thank God for their service and we look forward to the enthusiasm and ingenuity these new members bring to our Circle.  Their unique talents are an asset to the Daughters of Isabella.   God Bless All !!
